SDR mmWave Solution
TMYTEK offers Beamformer and Frequency Converter to enable SDR advanced wireless communication & sensing capabilities for rapid mmWave prototyping
TMYTEK Rapid mmWave Prototype Solution with the NI Ettus USRP X410 platform that enables system developers to realize and experiment with their protocol and algorithm innovations with full mmWave capabilities.
TMYTEK and NI rapid mmWave prototyping solution package include:
- TMYTEK Beamformer: BBox 5G series, a single box integrating PAs, LNAs, Tx/Rx switches, and phase shifters with a choice of a 4×4 or 1×4 array antenna kit.
- TMYTEK Frequency Convertor: UD Box 5G Dual with built-in LO source (RF: 24-44 GHz, IF:0.01-14 GHz)
- NI Ettus USRP X410 and NI PXI system
mmWave Analog Beamformer
BBox 5G comprises RF components such as transmit/receive (T/R) switch, power amplifier (PA), low noise amplifier (LNA) and phase shifters as well as TMYTEK‘s standard antenna for 5G beam steering.
Furthermore, beam shaping and beam synthesis can be easily implemented in one device. It has a detachable antenna kit so antenna array designers can easily replace it with their own design.
TMYTEK UD Box
TMYTEK UD Box is an up/down converter with an integrated mixer, an internal local oscillator (LO) as well as optional IF and RF filters that are explicitly made for 5G and satellite applications.
With the built-in LO from TMYTEK’s phase-locked oscillator (PLO) product line to ensure excellent phase noise performance, our UD Box makes radio frequency conversion easy and flexible.
The solution includes the UD Box 5G, an up-and-down converter between Sub-6 GHz and 5G mmWave bands without sacrificing EVM quality; and the BBox 5G series mmWave beamformers integrating PA, LNA, Tx/Rx switch, and phase shift into one box with a choice of 4×4 or 1×4 array antenna kit. The solution also comes with an intuitive GUI for beam-forming experiments.
The NI USRP SDR’s mmWave capability is fully unlocked with the TMYTEK solution. It has been intensively tested for system compatibility and performance. Engineers can use the beamformer to fine-tune the gain and phase of multiple RF channels, and the UD Box 5G to expand the SDR spectrum to 5G FR2 mmWave bands while maintaining excellent EVM performances.

A 100 meters millimeter wave transmission is demonstrated by TMYTEK’s rapid prototyping platform based on PXI System. With the 256 QAM modulation scheme, we will demonstrate a 100-meter millimeter wave communication while preserving an excellent EVM performance.
